Quick answer

How do you calculate a Google Ads budget?

Start with the number of leads or sales you want each month. Divide it by your conversion rate to get the clicks you need, then multiply the clicks by your average cost per click. For example, 40 leads at a 5% conversion rate need 800 clicks; at $4 per click, that is a $3,200 monthly budget.

Google Ads
How much should I spend on Google Ads per month?

Enough to buy the clicks needed for your lead target. Divide the leads you want by your conversion rate to get clicks, then multiply by your average cost per click. This calculator does that for you and shows the cost per lead and per customer.

Where do the industry numbers come from?

They are typical starting ranges for search campaigns based on published industry benchmarks and our own account experience. Your real costs depend on location, competition and account quality, so treat them as a starting point and adjust them.

What is a good cost per lead?

One you can afford at your close rate and customer value. If a customer is worth $1,000 and you close 1 in 4 leads, any cost per lead under $250 breaks even before other costs.

Is a small Google Ads budget worth it?

It can be, if you focus it. A small budget works best on a few high-intent keywords in a limited area, with conversion tracking in place, so every click has a real chance of becoming a lead.

How long before my Google Ads budget shows results?

Search campaigns can bring leads in the first weeks, but most accounts need one to three months of data before costs settle and smart bidding works well.
